ACMTC Beliefs On Deliverance
Over many years, the beliefs of what ACMTC holds on deliverance have been highly misconstrued by many parties ranging from books written without any personal knowledge, to pastors that think they have such great “cult” awareness, right down to the common layman and even friends.
This is the truth about what Generals James and Deborah Green believe about deliverance, devils/demonic spirits along with the other members of ACMTC.
Basis.
The basis for the deliverance beliefs held by ACMTC has been said by some accusers to be from a scripture in Genesis about man being Satan’s food or something. However ACMTC dispels this rumor as being absurd.
The true basis for ACMTC’ belief in deliverance is (Only giving two Biblical scriptures for each one for time’s sake but there are MANY in all the gospels if you desire to look them all up)
1. Jesus cast out Devils (Luke 11:20, 13:32 etc.)
2. Jesus’ disciples cast out Devils (Luke 9:1, 10:17)
3. Jesus commands us to cast out Devils (Matthew 10:8, Mark 16:17)
Possessed?
ACMTC has never believed or does believe now that a Christian can be possessed by a demon! But rather that they may possess one or more demon(s).
The Greek does not mean “demon possessed” anyways but is properly rendered into English as “demonized”.
The difference between the two is the same as the difference in believing that a human can possess a car(s) is widely different than believing a human can be possessed by a car(s).
On a personal note-
Can a Christian have a demon?
Yes. If this is not true then there would be no need for deliverance anyways. All you would have to do is get someone saved and all the devils including spirits of infirmity (devils of sickness) would leave instantly. But they do not! So it is obvious that not all unclean spirits just leave when a person gets saved or else why would there be alcoholics given to drunkenness demons that have already given their lives to Christ, etc.
Secondly, when people sought Jesus for deliverance why didn’t he just say “Accept me as your Saviour and all your demons will be gone!” But besides that, lots of people that Jesus cast demons out of WERE already believers like Mary Magdalene (Mark 16:9)!
What has been noticed about people that do not believe Christians can have demons, is they don’t really believe in demons at all because they don’t cast them out of anyone, believer or not. Name one deliverance minister that goes around and casts demons out of only non-believers?
Light and Darkness.
This is the only scripture I have heard against the Christian-Demon debate but it is heard and heard and heard. If that Christian you are talking to doesn’t think they have a slimy devil or could they, they will definitely use this scripture but only 1 Corinthians 10:21. They will not use it in context but just alone, telling you it’s just impossible for darkness to exist with light, so that’s suppose to mean that THEY can’t have a demon.
1Corinthians 10:20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
1Corinthians 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
1Corinthians 10:22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
First of all let’s read it like this.
You cannot drink of your neighbor the Smiths’ table, and your neighbor the Taylor’s table: you cannot partake of the Smiths table and the Taylor’s table at the same time.
But for breakfast you could of ate at the Smiths and for lunch, the Taylor’s. Yes, oh Yes, you could have food from both tables in your body for sure!
Besides that point, you have to look at what is actually being talked about here and in context as well! Here Paul is telling them not to partake of evil things (fellowshipping devils), he is not giving this happy-sappy talk about how nothing could be against you etc. He is genuinely exhorting them. Then in 22 some questions are asked- “Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy?” That is not a statement that coincides with the context of their verse’s interpretation! It is a warning!
What he’s really saying is this- Hey, if you guys want to sacrifice to devils like the Gentiles do, then you are not sacrificing to God because it is impossible for your Holy God to be their defiled god! They are not and cannot be the same, if you do that you are not worshipping God in it! So what, are you going to do that and piss God off anyways, even after I’ve told you it’s wrong?
For those who still think no darkness whatsoever could interfere with Gods light in someone, they must not believe other scriptures like:
1 Timothy 4:1
But the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, cleaving to deceiving spirits and teachings of demons
-or-
John 12:35 Then Jesus said to them, Yet a little while the Light is with you. Walk while you have the Light, that darkness not overtake you. And the one walking in the darkness does not know where he is going.
Why would Jesus warn that darkness could overtake if that were impossible?
To me, to not believe Christians can have demons is exceedingly arrogant! What are all those warnings in the Bible for? The ones talking about Satan devouring them etc.? Who do they think the Bible was written for anyways?
